Ideology quiz

I don't watch very much news except for what I see on instagram. I like the Corpus Christi Crónica this news source because it gives me information about what is going on around my community. Most of the time it is information you won't see on the news which is why I like it so much. It doesn't have much information on politics but it I would say it would fall under neutral fact reporting.

My primary source of news would have to be ABC news. I feel as though it is a reliable source, I like how it's neutral and gives me both sides of the spectrum and they provide mostly facts. My secondary source would have to be Kris 6 News it is a local news station that isn't on the media bias chart.

My name is Brian Lopez I am currently enrolled at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. I am currently majoring in Business Management. To be honest I really didn’t want to go to TAMUCC at first mainly because I wanted to go UTSA were some of my friends are currently going. After my first semester going to TAMUCC I’m glad I decide to stay home and go to TAMUCC. I believe it was the smartest route at the end of the day. I have enjoyed going to TAMUCC so far. I have made some new friends and even reconnected with some of my old friends. This seminar class has taught me a lot, like lifelong learning and how to implement it in school and the real world. Lifelong learning skills has not only helped me inside the classroom but outside as well. The four lifelong learning skills (curiosity, persistence, responsibility, and transfer) are important to me because they are all skills that will help me to achieve my goals inside the classroom and in the real world.

To me when I think of the term curiosity, I think of the desire to gain knowledge of something or a subject. This is an important skill to have because it means you are wanting to improve your knowledge. When doing the strength and weakness survey, curiosity was actually one of my stronger strengths. I tend to question a lot of things in this world, but my weakness is finding the answers to these questions. For instance, I have been pretty curious about what is the point in taking some of these classes. Especially when they have no correlation with my major, like what is the point of taking an Art credit when it has nothing to do with business. Why do we have to be told what we need to take; why can’t we choose what we learn about?

Persistence is a key skill that someone would like to have if they would like to be successful in life. Persistence is essentially the set ability to set skills and stick to them no matter how hard they become. This in an important component of lifelong skills because it’s a sign of strength and is key if you want to be successful in anything in life. I believe that my persistence skill is fairly strong. This is mainly due to football and working out. These two have taught me how to set my goals and to work hard in order to achieve them. I have been implementing this into school as well. No matter how hard my schoolwork gets or how overwhelmed I get from school; I just think about how it going to feel when I get my degree knowing that all my hard work has paid off.

Responsibility is a skill that not everyone possesses, it is a skill that comes with age. To me responsibility means taking accountability for one’s belongings and their actions. Responsibility is important in lifelong learning because it is a sign of maturity. This is not one of my stronger skills. I would really like to work on this skill and my ability to take accountability for my actions instead of blaming other things. One way I can relate this to school in when I’m doing my homework and I can’t figure out the answer and I start blaming my professors instead of blaming myself for not paying attention enough to know the answer.

The last lifelong learning skill is Transfer. This is the ability to take the knowledge we acquire in class and implement it in the real world. This skill is important to lifelong learning skills because what’s the point in learning any of this information if you aren’t going to use it. I’m not too sure if I have any strengths or weakness regarding this skill. If I would have to choose, one of my weaknesses regarding this skill it would have to be trying to find ways to implement the things I learn in class into the real world. Although I have found ways to implement the skills that we have learned in this class into the real world. I like to practice the breathing exercise that we were taught in this class. It helps me to calm down, relax, and focus when I practice the breathing exercise.

In closing, I have learned a lot about lifelong skills from this reflection. This reflection has taught me the meaning of these skills. It has also opened my eyes and showed me skills that I must improve if I would like to be successful in the future. The two goals that I would like to set for the rest of the semester are to pass all my classes with a B or higher, and to improve the two lifelong learning skills that are in need of improvement.

I have chosen to research how to improve my leadership skill. This is because leadership is a skill I would like to improve for my future profession. I plan on owning my own business in the future and I would really like to improve this skill so I can be a better boss for my future employees. I feel as though I already possess this skill, but I would really like to improve it. This is why I chose the both of these articles. I have chosen one article that has taught me how to improve my leadership skills. While the other article that I have chosen has taught me how to implement these skills in the future. I can implement these skills in class by helping my peers so we may all pass together and achieve our future goals.

For my second lesser strength, I would like to improve my gratitude. I have been so busy with everything going on in my life and trying to achieve my goals in life. I haven’t really gotten the time to stop and appreciate everything I have in my life. I really would like to improve this trait so I can stop thinking about all the bad stuff that happens to me and think of the good. From my research I found out how to use (PPI) or positive psychology intervention to improve my gratitude. I also learned how by improving this skill it can lead to a healthier and happier lifestyle. A way that I can implement this trait into the classroom is by appreciating that I am lucky enough to be able to further my education. Which a lot of people don’t get the opportunity to do.
